I feel adrenaline rush when speeding at night avoiding drowsiness. It delivers me home or workplace early. But faster we move means slower our reaction become. Wether the math formula result increasing probability of death. While living is difficult to achieve, death on the contrary randomly possible to happen. Once and nothing can return life back. With the same reaction (see-decide-act : taken from internet) time approximately 1.6 second at 100km/h or 27.8m/s, an act will happen 44,48m after we see a potential threat. At 100km/h full braking (rear, front and engine brake) to 0km/h will need at least 10m more, depend on road, brake and tires condition. Do we have 60m to avoid an accident? Mostly we don't as traffic condition is very tight with space less than 10m between vehicles. After riding my new motorcycle and get used to its transmission system it goes smooth. Until today I did a stupidity. There was a car in front of me that I want to cut over from right (Indonesia is right side driving system), everything was ready then I wanted to switch up the gear then I reach the gear switch lever. How could I stepped the gear switch lever down (switch down in sport bike) like I usually did on moped bike (in moped it will switch up gear). The result was engine brake, abruptly slow down the bike. Fortunately it happen in low speed, I didn't flew from my bike forward.
I wonder how can in a split second after forgetting to drive a moped for quite long time, the old reflex appeared again. My body is still not a reliable recording device, and it can be dangerous when happen in a critical situation and common as a human error. More practice needed to sharpen the riding skill.

After experiencing manual clutch motorcycle

I decided to change my daily commuting means from public transportation to a bit more private vehicle, by motorcycle. Father already has one with automatic clutch, means we only switch gears up and down without having to pull clutch lever. Then I decided to have one with manual clutch, at first I ask myself why should people trouble themselves with manual operation while there are automatic solution (automatic scooter is the easiest 2 wheel commuting solution). After several times using the motorcycle with manual clutch, I think I understand the feel of controling everything we are riding. The sense of being manual, it open more ways for the bike to be me while in a road. Mine is a 200cc sportbike style that I think enough for daily use, competing with public transportation, trucks, lower class bikes to go to campus and miscellaneous places that usually costy when using public transportation.
I think I should love this bike, like I love my bicycle like when I was in Japan. This is my feet, walking now converted into pulling clutch, shifting gears, opening throttle, braking and steering. I think I still need time to tame the new iron horse.

Gouvernment Civil Service Performance

We are preparing for permission for our KKN (Live Class of Workmanship). We plan our KKN will be conducted in Ranupani. In Lumajang we bumped on Kesbangpol (Society and Political Unionship). First they asked the students to bring the person in charge to make sure there is someone from institution who responsible for the activities. They went again with me and I hoped the procedure can be done immediately, but it seemed they don't take it seriously. They didn't ask my identity as a staff from Brawijaya University, strange. I don't have idea whether they believe or not. They only gave comment on how important a person in charge without giving attention to the coordinator of KKN itself. They keep talking about they need to meet the head of the research, which is only a part of whole activities of KKN. A coordinator should be representative enough for whole activities. I still don't understand what the problem is. We try again today, we should make it clear as soon as possible.

Which one is the real Love.

Most of songs we hear tells about Love. Each with its own version or point of view. From those version I think we can try as a game to classify the types of love. I believe there will be many types of love.
1. The most popular I think between man and woman, a meristematic love that can be anything in the future. Sometimes very complicated involving possessiveness, jealousy, affection and sometimes lust. Possible as a way for reproduction as a living being.
2. Family love, a should be everlasting love as there is no ex-family. A brother will always be a brother, so is sister, parents or extended families. Very pure without hoping for returning. But returning love is possible as we human can communicate.
3.Homosexual, they have feeling like love between man and woman but of course with some limitation. They are sexually incompatible. Sure no reproductive purpose.
4. Non human love is usually between a master and pets. It can be very pure as the pet is not yet understandable whether it loves the owner. The owner should not expect much from the pets then. Usually as a substitute for a love the owner can't get because it is free to interprete the love from the pet. Pet here is for plants, animals and other things.
5. Divinelove where it descends from heaven for everything God has created. Still mostly as religious belief since it is very abstract.
Those are my version please feel free to add or give comments.

Who wants to be a God?

What's required to be a God? We often assume that in order to be a God, an almighty power is the most necessary condition. Will it be enough? What kind of power required, powerful will, strength, brain etc? If someone has all required power to be a God what will he/she want next? Still he/she need money, top position, sex, beauty, cronies etc? That person has had everything, nothing will attract him/her anymore. Any mischief means less control power and he/she is not a God anymore.
We may have power of God but it may require our nothingness to be a true God. We cease our will, we think million of years ahead, there is no chaos everything is predictable. Or is it the real power of God? Applying rules over other rules without any paradox happens.
Who wants to be a God since we can still feel in a state of powerfulness as a human.

I catch a cold (again... and under pressure)

I catch a cold and it doesn't feel good. My first visit was when I was still a student joining KKN (Class of Practice and Working)in the year 2000. It was very quiet here in Ranupani without electricity and any consiquence following it. Turning on TV or any electric appliances only possible at night for limited duration. They used diesel powered generator from 17.00 - 22.00. I hardly found. I thought that it was a very natural village, without any interference from outside world. The village was isolated.
But now the situation is different after electricity reaching the village. Hearing music and TV channels is very common today. Everyday people can watch news, soap opera, comedy and so on. People start giving their children name according to celebrities name. There must be a more serious shift in the society. I wonder about their sense of cultural and natural conservation. In the use of medicine, I wonder whether people still use traditional ingredients or just buy from drugstore. This will lead to the knowledge erosion of plants with medical value. Some species may be just forgotten, it then will extinct or taken by foreigner and patented without us being able to reclaim.
The TV station should be wiser in providing programs, they are potential in leading such villagers to go to nature destruction or conservation. Make villager keep their traditional value or leave and forget it. They are one of agents of globalization, whether we can have power from legacy of our ancestors or once again drop to our knees and defeated.

Faraway marriage (future vision)

It is not impossible to have marriage legally without having to see / meet each other. Based on concepts about information, with the ascent of information technology and biological technology, the following scenario can be produced. Tomorrow people marry not for physical appearence, to them dna sequence is more important. Proposal can be arranged by submitting dna sequence. Sperm and ovum can be sent accross the country to have fertilization. Legal documents can be made somewhere with witnesses via teleconference. Fertilized egg then can develop in a hired surrogate mother. With this scenario a husband and wife don't have to meet each other to build a family. Even the boy can be educated in schools with dormitory under supervision from school and faraway parrents.
If nano technology reach its ultimate capability to manufacture dna strands, submitting life sperm and ovum will no longer be necessary. We can send only the sequence via encrypted e-mail.

once again an experiment

once again an experiment from my 9300

Tugas sebagai nilai UTS Struktur Perkembangan Tumbuhan 1 (jar. I wonder will this kind of service be ready for 3G world? I think investing in 3G network is expensive and it will not attract more customer, from GPRS experience. Offering not more that video call (I still prefer packet based data transfer) 3G is not more than a new toy. Seeing TV via phone is considered still expensive. Our TV stations do not offer vital information yet. Seeing drama via phone will be a waste of bandwidth for me. With current GPRS service it is already possible to access many useful internet service from weather, forex, mail, instant messenger etc. Do we need more? For today availability and usefulness is enough for our society. With limited coverage and expensive fare 3G service is not available and useful for many level of society.
I think for tomorrow Telkomsel should be more careful since there is another international competitor called 3 (Three).

Simple natural indicator for resources

Everytime we can see, the nature surrounding us is growing. In biological science we learn about why, where, when, how etc. about their growth. This came to my thought when I see a group of microscopic green algae or microalgae grows on the floor of my bathroom after we made roof window for sunlight. We didn't have it before and no green algae grew either. The presence of sunlight triggered the algae to grow, I think they think there is plenty of energy and matters usable for growth. The empty bathroom floor is proven contains useful material for growing biomass. At the first time it is less useful without sunlight. The only growing algae was brown microalgae. From history that plant kingdom has long history of converting useless material into useful material, I think those green algae has something important to consider.
We human sometimes too ignorant as we can't see unused resource as sunlight that now begins to burn us. Water that engulf us in flood. Wind in a hurricane or tornado and many other natural potential resources.

The easiest things to do

As a human being, the easiest things to do is sleeping and eating. If someone has difficulties with them, it means that someone is having a big problem.
Having abilities to sleep almost anywhere and anytime sometimes gives problems. You can sleep in the middle of duty, inside car, in front of computer, while writing or reading and sure this will prevent you from finishing the job. Some people tries coffee or any other caffein sources, some works some fails. Modern people now very strong in mind but physically weak. While their mind want to stay awake but their body need rest. For someone who has insomnia this gives problem. But mainly we should tame our mind to give chance for our body to have rest. Broaden our view, see the pleasing pattern of life to understand where life will go. Be ready for our last day, nothing will bother. Work as usual, communicate properly, eat and rest and have ourselves prepared by routinely remembering God. But like other habits it needs practice.

C'mon write something serious

I just realize that writing can be such a big barrier in this line of job. We as teaching staff (actually not ordinary teaching staff) or academicians are like painting artists. We depend on idea on current issue. We should write something that has opportunity to influence many readers (Azrianingsih R., 2007). And now I'm struggling to motivate myself to write something that decent enough for scientific journal. With many exercise on practicing to write and review scientific manuscript, I think it is already my time to move. I think that writing for scientific paper is also kind of exercise and all I have to do is just write anything and submit. We rely on our track record in any subject. Only after many exercise you'll be a master in any branch of subject (Yahya K., 1984). Consider anything we do as exercise for perfecting our professional skill. In many military operations, failure is not an option, but to me it is better to fail now than later, means failure is still an option but avoidable.

Competence in this general world

I had a chance to join in our meeting on changing our curriculum. Our curriculum now said to be based on competence as a biologist or generally as a scientist or researcher. To my opinion this is "ideally" good. But since we are not living in an ideal world especially here ing Indonesia, to competent is quite tough. Finding job (I prefer say our role) relevant to our speciality is not easy. We will find it but it is very rare to be instantly. Like now we are reconstructing our curriculum to reflect KBK ( Competence Based Curriculum). To go there I think we need to know how to translate global situation into demand and break it down into curriculum. We must know what people wants these days. Then we teach ourselves and students to find the way to give what society want. We do it in "biological way". To earn money, clean the environment, to be healthy, to be more social like balanced ecosystem. It is still a long way but it is possible, open our mind and walk into uncharted area of our knowledge. Stick with our speciality while doing role of anything needed by people.

Junior High school teachers and students training.

Hi blog, it's been a long time again. This time is about smart kids. Some kids gifted with higher level of intelligence. They are strongly driven, higher level of creativity and sometimes for their surrounding they can be very annoying.
After holding training program for junior high school teachers and students plus various previous information I write this blog. The training was held from 11 - 19 February under coordination with Department of National Education. They 24 hours stayed in the dormitory provided by the committee. Teachers and student had tight schedule for course and discussion, the program started from 7.00 and ended at 21.00.
Smart kids sometimes show interesting behaviour. They have higher level of curiousity and sometimes coordination to fool the officials there for some sweetlets. It is good to have them and think that nothing will happen to them until the time, with sincerity they take the lead of this country.

A little bit about Biology Students' BIOSFER

After a long delay with no writing...
A great effort from our students about exposing their study program to society. It was titled BIOSFER (Biology Open House for Environmental Recognition), see that we are very creative in making acronyms. They had some programs in that event for children and students from various grade of education. Colouring and drawing competition for kindergarten and elemetary school students, poster making for junior high school students. Making wall magazine and scientific manuscript competition for senior high school students and they had laboratory visit also. Fortunately I can participate as a jury for three competition and see their response.
Generally participants were enthusiastic in every programs. But in every competition everyone will always be enthusiastic.
Eventhough our theme is to socialize application of modern biology, there are still diverse perception among people. But for myself it was already good for them to know about biology study program and biology itself.
This event appeared in Jawa Post Radar Malang indicating concern from mass media. I hope this will encourage people to know more about biological science.
I believe biology is science for sustainable future. Actually I don't like to write this, but I think it is a worthy matter to write.
It was by two men who suddenly came inside the public transportation. They told me that they just had a group fight and one of their member was injured and now they are looking for the suspect. They were rude and rough, from the appearance they should be avoided but I think positive and it was a mistake. I was curious to know the problem and fell into their trap. So if someone say something about your involvement about any crime you didn't commit, avoid them, run, call for help or kill them on the spot. Police said that usually they are bluffing and only equipped with knives and sickle, if you're sure better equipped fight them with hesitation of taking their life. Law states that killing to protect ourselves is forgiven. In that incident I lost my cellphone with all the data inside, my wireless keyboard and my mp3 player. The most precious is the data inside. All lost in the middle of a dark paddyfield.
Last, good advice to deal with them. Creativity is important in writing a manuscript, but telling it in systematic way, accurate and understandable by people is not less essential.
Our theme is still kept about increasing nation competitiveness for sustainable development. Sometimes it is not without the sense of irony. Our general directorate for higher education itself haven't made use of the ideas from the manuscript yet. This may be caused by insufficient quality of our human resource.
The nature of the manuscript should be:
-creative and objective
-logic and systematic (orderly written, contains problem identification, beside analysis there should be synthesis, conclusion and suggestion must end the script)
-contains literature digest not result from experiment
-complies recent issues.
I think that it is a good practice to write this way. The manuscript may be stiff for some people but it offers unbiased topic.
But there are still problems with existing condition:
- passive learner
- memorizing information
- low of inquisitiveness
- low of curiousity
- lack of knowledge management
It will need hard works, but there we the lecturers are needed.

Fonts textual emotion in digital device

What I like from this smartphone is that the appearance is very customizable. Like now, I just changed the font set using Easy GDR Creator. It changes nothing but the fonts. I decided to use Script MT Bold for messaging, and found that it gives different feeling when I'm doing message composing. Composing using normal font is like using typewriter, each letter stands alone very mechanistic. Changing to Script give extra emotional appearance since each font is connected to previous and following fonts. While it is disturbing for reading a lot of text but it feels like writing a conventional paper letter instead of writing SMS or e-mail on digital device. I rarely write using hand, I write in script style and my handwriting gets worse, I like digital aspect in documentation but sometimes still want to see this script letter. This give a little relief for that. With it, I think writing a love letter using e-mail will not be awkward anymore.
By the way, the text is still an ANSI text, it means that the recipient may see in different font depending on device settings. The pleasure is only for the writer.

To Alas Purwo National Park

In Saturday and Sunday Dec 1st. I must take my students to Alas Purwo National Park for field practice of Higher Plants and Vertebrate Taxonomy. Beside that going to natural environment can be a refreshing activity of course with the cost of energy. We departed from Malang at 21.00 and arrived at 8.00. Our bus were facing hard track to the forest, bad road surrounded by teak forest, bush and bamboos. Very pleasant that our resting place was near the beach with waves and sea scent filled atmosphere.
There we traveled in and out the forest to collect speciments especially bamboos and wildlife related vegetation. We also collected animal tracks and droppings.
I tell you that it is save to follow existing tracks and not advised to venture out to the forest. If you want to try an adventure, have navigation aids and a guide with you. It is very famous to people there that everyone who enters the forest will be lost to dead, "jalmo moro jalmo mati" in local tongue.
Other place was Goa Istana, Palace cave. In Goa Istana lot of people come to visit as pilgrims requesting many things related to their life. From business to family matters. Something that not really fits the place in our belief.
Our adventure took the toll of our physical condition. I myself because of sweat and air conditioner, dropped sleeping with nausea and headache. After anything happened it was an enjoyful trip. Please, come to Alas Purwo National Park, they still have something original to present.

HIV/AIDS day. and the rain starts falling

I can't connect to my Yahoo.com account using Yahoo!Go. It is been a while since my last blog. But I just wanted to write anything anyway. Yesterday my friend asked me a favour for designing a quotes and cartoon related to International Day of HIV/AIDS. I didn't have any idea at first but then I came with a blck devil pointing a quote "HIV/AIDS id harmless" and showing his thumb and with text says WAHAHAHAHA.... bellow. Don't believe that HIV/AIDS is harmless. I think this virus is well designed to kill while spreading for vast victims. Unlike ebola with horrific symptoms but kill almost instantly so it doesn't have chance to spread to large scale targets. HIV has a perfect timer to give it chance to spread and then the last tick that kills the host.
Ahh... we see here that the rain starts falling regularly.

Participating in Workshop of Block Grant for Junior High School Sc ience Competence

The GPRS is out in Jatinangor Bandung. I had problem also with my wireless keyboard, I forgot to press ENTER for passcode and failed the bluetooth authentication proccess.
Anyway, It seems that our program run smoothly. We have made questions for selection for Junior High School Science Olimpiad participation. Actually there are still many things to do then. We still have responsibility to manage state money, arranging activities for students and teachers, prepare them for participating in National Science Olympiad. Avoid wasting money on something useless such as for the sake of "birokrasi" (I will change into correct spell until I found one).
Then we visited Bosscha Observatory in Lembang. An old building on top of high terrain. Everything inside is also old. A big telescope resides inside this dome topped building. Unfortunately, we didn't have chance to observe through the telescope lense. The night was clear, I think it was a good chance to observe star. One of our guides said that the star is like human, it was born from celestial clouds grows and dies as supernova, white dwarf or as a black hole.

In the airport to Bandung

Waiting in the seats in Juanda new airport while seeing airplane taking off and landing give another feeling. Very little risk of pickpockets, robbers, snatchers and so on. Standardized service in every corner. Does every people understand the situation out there? Entropy (S) is a measure of disorder in the system (Universe Review). Next, we believe that we are living in a closed system, I assume our universe is closed to any supernatural entities. Here, our interaction is only among us, and between the sun.
We are living only by exchanging energy as a matter of its form or location. The heat flowing into a system equals the increase in internal energy of the system minus the work done by the system. or Energy cannot be created, or destroyed, only modified in form (Universe Review). Have we created something new? We establish order by giving away disorder. See the direction? This is the same with, we can not achieve happiness without giving away unhappiness. We con not be rich by empoverishing others. Seems make sense? In wider sense it is impossible for a developed country to stay equal with developing country. Equity will be achieved after we can throw disorders to the outer space. Throwing the away into the atmosphere will result in only global warming, ozon hole, acid rain etc. Things that every country will suffer no matter developed or developing countries.
Back to us as the most important component in this world system. We can try to measure our own Entropy capacity, how well we can take disorders for ourselves to keep our environment in order. Like from now on we can stop littering, smoking, shouting, stealing anything that break balance of others.

A meaning of a word Love (Indonesian)

An old something about love. I got it from my friend when I was still a undergraduate student. Tonight I was still bored with routine job about GIS.
arti sebuah kata cinta
Kenapa kita menutup mata saat kita tidur.....?
Ketika kita menangis.........?
Ketika kita membayagkan.......?
Tapi melepaskan bukan akhir dunia, melainkan suatu kehidupan
"bolehkah saya masuk?"
mencintai juga bukanlah bagaimana kita melupakan dia bila dia berbuat kesalahan
melainkan bagaimana kita memaafkan, bagaimana kita mendengarkan
melainkan bagaimana kita mengerti
Bukanlah apa yang kita lihat, melainkan apa yang kita rasa,
Bukanlah bagaimana kita melepaskan, melainkan bagaimana kita bertahan
apabila kita melepaskannya...
Namun bilapun kau benar-benar mencintai seseorang, jangan lepaskan dia
Bila dia tidak membalasmu, barangkali dia tengah ragu dan mencari
Jangan percaya bahwa melepaskan berarti kamu benar-benar mencintai tanpa...
Suatu balasan
Mengapa tak berjuang demi cintamu....?
Mungkin itulah cinta sejatimu.....
Kadangkala orang yang paling mencintaimu
adalah orang yang tak pernah menyatakan
Cinta kepadamu....
Karena takut kau berpaling dan memberi jarak
Dan suatu saat bila ia pergi ...Kau akan menyadari....
Ia adalah cinta yang tidak kau sadari

I'm sorry it is not in English, may someone who has time can send me the translation.<div Student shouldn't be a passive object blankly enter the classroom and recieve the lesson. Like empty bottle, an already filled bottle will lose its content gradually due to usage and consumption.
A radio transciever is a good example, before working as a transciever the electric circuit must be activated to perform oscilation. When the oscilation reach the same frequency with other transmitter the information will flow possibly back and forth. Until the power depleted a transciever will continue recieving and transmitting information. A student will act as another teacher after recieving information from a teacher. The information will continue to spread. While the information is combinating and permutating, the information becomes more advanced through the students.

Map Projection and Coordinate System

This time I just want to write something, an exerpt from a book, Introduction to Geographic Information Systems by Kang-tsung Chang.
Introduction

GIS users work with map features on a plane surface. These map features represent spatial features on the Earth's surface. The locations of map features are based on coordinate system, whereas the location of spatial features are based on the geographic grid expressed in longitude and latitude values. The transformation from the geographic grid to a coordinate system is referred to as map projection, which is the topic of this chapter.
A basic principle in GIS is that map layers to be used together must be based on the same coordinate system. The practice of this principle, however, is complicated by the fact that hundreds of coordinate system are used in mapmaking and by different GIS and data producers. For example, Figure 2.1 shows the road maps of Idaho and Montana downloaded from internet. The road maps obviously cannot be used together because they are based on different coordinate system, which result in the overlapping of the road networks. To make them usable, these two road maps must be converted to a common coordinate system.
Increasingly, GIS users download digital maps from the internet, or get them from government agencies and private companies. Some digital maps are measured in longitude and latitude values, while others are in different coordinate systems from the one intended for the GIS project. Invariably these digital maps must be processed before they can be used together.
Processing in this case implies projection and re-projection. Projection means converting digital maps from longitude and latitude values to two dimensional coordinates, and re-projection means converting from one coordinate system to another. Typically, projection and re-projection are among the initial tasks performed in a GIS project.

Blog, a way of writing inspiration (hey, I'm still learning also)

I dig others' blog and they are all inspiring. I found that blog is good for sharing ideas to others. While starting to write something is sometimes difficult and publishing is expensive, we get all of them for free by using blog. I use my blog to practice writing in English, it is difficult at first. Foreign language doesn't seem to give freedom of expression as we master less vocabulary in foreign language than in our mother tongue. For me every start is difficult, so it is better to start something to write than not. For readers, I'm improving my english along with writing my blog.
A blog, a very good way to practice writing. I mostly post using e-mail, and it doesn't support picture attachment. I use my mobile phone to post my blog, attaching pictures will increase the cost and I just want to write. There are many sites discussing about writing searchable using Google.

Technical infos :
- posting using mobile phone e-mail, cost me Rp 300,- (USD 0.03) depend on length
- checking post using rss feeder and e-mail, average cost around Rp 1000,- (USD 0.1)

Actually it is not very expensive compared with premium sms popular these days (Rp 1000 - 2000 / sms). Although at first it made me wonder about why didn't my posts appear after I send via e-mail. Then I checked to the site and found my posts was treated as drafts, good they don't drop the mail means that I still have copy in case I have deleted my master copy. After verification procedure to tell them that I'm a real human I hope this post can be as a verification that I still can post via e-mail as this way is very practical. I think this is normal for a complex system.
For a year this phone nas been being very useful. For communication, a phone of course and it takes very small part in overall functions, sms and mms yet cheaper than phone, e-mail, msn and yahoo! messenger and less used wireless irc. Various PIM functions, organizer, contacts, to do, notes like a private secretary. For entertainment it can play music, video, tune on radio, and many games. It captures photos, videos and records voice for later documentation. When connected to internet the phone grabs rss news, currency rate and articles via web browser, and last it maintains blog. There is also a little deviation that this phone can act as a remote control via infrared and bluetooth. With this, it feels like taking a library, multilanguage dictionaries, world factbook, pdf and eBook readers with more than a hundred titles for handy reference. When something is in mind Quickword is ready with simple formating capabilities for further editing with PC.
There may be some functions forgetten to mention but it helps me so much. A good example to see digital convergence evolving. But with such vast functions needs large amount of power and the original battery seems insufficient.

For those of you who also own an s60 v2 device, this may give some information that it can do a lot of things.

__________________________________________________
Apakah Anda Yahoo!?
Lelah menerima spam? He knows that you are unable to pray the whole night, so He has turned to you (in mercy). So, recite you the Quran as much as may be easy for you. He knows that there will be some among you sick, others travelling through the land, seeking Allah's bounty; yet others fighting in Allah's Cause. So recite as much Quran as may be easy (for you) and perform As-Salat and give Zakat and lend to Allah a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek Forgiveness of Allah. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (Al-Muzzammil 73:20).

I'd like to say Happy Idul Fitri 1427H. Blogging is very popular today, you can see an example here of course. We can share our "shareable" idea and that is very subjective between people. Although some say that web blogging is a modern way of amnesia, but to me like writing books some ideas are worthy to write, before we forget.
The publicly accessible web blog is one of its appeals. This give me an idea of giving short class discussion, quiz, and homeworks using web blog. Students can copy paste the task, solve it and send the work via e-mail or directly in digital format. I assume that internet line is available for cheap cost and student has access to computers, knows the basic of browsing, downloading and sending e-mail with attachments. This will reduce unnecessary use of papers, ink and storage. Todays information technology is sufficiently reliable, documented and available at low cost (but in indonesia is still expensive and not easily accessible which I still save a belief on it). The day began like usual day, I depart for campus after I finished washing my clothes. From my house to bus terminal there was no problem encountered as my journey was smooth.

In the middle of my journey from terminal to campus, there were some guys board the mikrolet. They boarded separately but it was obvious that the interval between each of them was patterned.

A unit of mikrolet (mini van) has two side of seats the left and right. If we are facing forward the left seat has capacity for 4 - 5 persons and it is next to exit, and the right side capacity 7 - 8 persons. In front there is driver and seat for 1 - 2 passengers. We adopt right side steering wheel.

I was sitting behind driver in corner. Two normal passengers sat in back left seat corner. Another two passengers sat in the opposite. The pickpocket gang consist of five persons. One sat near me, one opposite me, two on my left, and one took the entrance door. I always get difficulties to do that. I know how to motivate myself, but not for other especially student.
We sometimes lose our motivation to do something we have started. But it may be because we only get bored with that thing's monotony. Anyway we must finish what we have started, it's our responsibility...... responsibility to ourselves. But when it happens to someone else how can we show the responsibility? All the consequence from the decision, the purpose of being there at the time of making that decision. Further at certain position we don't have to make decision to be responsible for it, like our life, we can blame noone for us to take this responsibility. I think we can only motivate ourselves to go through it. We can make decision to deny our life but of course with another consequence. Nothing particular happened, everything ran smoothly but still there was still confusion about time.
Actually I have the experience previously but, this time still I must learn about the mechanism again.

Nokia 6260 for surveilance

Nokia 6260 has unique camera position that allows the user to do surveilance. I'll tell you, you can act as you're reading your e-book while actually you're activating your camera application. In noisy environment it's good since no one can hear the shutter gimmick sound, but in silence you should consider 3rd party software for silent capture.
In practice, phone can be used in three modes. (1) working mode like usual clamshell phone with camera on left side. We can observe from the screen to compose. (2) browse mode, we can position the camera on right side (kok ada bapak2 bawa novel pendekar 4 alis) but everything is the same with previous except less comfortable handling. With browse mode you can also position the camera in front while holding the phone landscape-ly.
The limitation is that the camera field of view Is narrow compared to real survey camera. They measure every aspect that's related to the object of those research. One of the aspect is measuring time. Measured in various ways precisely, using dedicated accurate devices (a stopwatch or timer). But I'm not sure how many people among them think about measuring their own life. Precise and synchronized timing is still as something difficult to realize. At least each people time displayed by their watch varies by 5-10 minutes. If an event were represented by light course with 300,000km/s speed, being late or early for 5 minutes means we are as far as 1,080,000,000km from reality. Then when is the correct time? While time is an exact being that relatively unrealized, people made standard from earth rotation divided into 23 time zones started from Greenwich. USNO Master Clock is believed to record current time. I think we can use it as a standard since it is more practical than measuring by ourselves. Then we can start our synchronized life, it's been proven than many systems relies on synchronized timing. From esoteric point of view, with accurate time we know our position in time relative to position of other celestial bodies. We know that our life is limited by time and space.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Authenticity using digital signature

We are already familiar with hand sign, the importance to show the authenticity of a document. font-weight: normal;">It's been a long time I've been begging to my mother to buy me wrist watch, but mum doesn't have spare money, so she ask me to be patient. Actually I was often bought wrist watches, but they didn't last for a long time. May be because they were bought from sellers at street side with cheap price, so their quality is questionable.

At school, my classmates have worn cool and interesting wrist watches, one with second hand decorated using flower picture, strap with cartoon characters and many more. When my saving was given by my teacher, soon I gave them to mum for she buy my wrist watch.

"Please buy me the good one, for it can last long," I yelled to my mother while she is going to go to market.
"Don't worry!" she answered while waving hand to me.

I couldn't go with her cause I had to take care of my younger brother who was sleeping. Less than one hour mother came back, hurrily I welcame her.
"Where's the watch, Mum?" I was so impatient.
"Please wait, Mum must put and unload these shopping goods first. And carefully store it otherwise your brother will play and break it. Also keep away from water, when taking wash for pray don't forget to take it off"
"Yes mam!" I answered while putting my new wrist watch on.

It was cool, with red strap and even it has cartoon character printed.
"I really love it, Thanks mum!" I said and ran inside my room to keep it inside bag.

Tomorrow, I cheerfully went to school. At school my classmates saw my wrist watch.
"Yun, it is very cool, where did you buy? Must be expensive right? Who chose it?" those were what my friend asked me.

Break time come, my classmates and I run toward mosque to pray Noon together. I remembered what my mother said to take it off when I want to wash for pray, so there I took it off and put inside my pocket. After praying, I bowed to wear my shoes. I forgot my watch inside my pocket, then
"Crack...!" my wrist watch fell on the stony ground. I was surprised, I picked it up, but... how sad I was cause I had broken the crystal.

I was puzzeled afraid my mother will be angry to me. On the way home, I searched reason for her not to be angry. At home, Mum didn't ask me about the wrist watch, I kept inside bag unseen by Mum. But what a naughty yonger brother, when I was unaware he opened my bag and messed the content. He cried while bringing the wrist watch asked my mother to put it on.

Mum yelled at me, "Yun.... how can it breaks the crystal?"

I was surprised Mum have known it, I went to her, "I'm sorry!, I didn't intend that I fell while I was wearing my shoes."

"It's OK, no problem, just wear it, at glance the crack won't be seen."

I nodded. When I went to school I put it on, but after I arrived, I put it inside bag, I was ashame to be laughed by my classmates. Afraid to be said el cheapo.

One day, father took me to watch car exhibition, my brother and I went but not my mother. At exhibition place the commitee member offered me to join coloring competition. I arrived late, that was why I did it in hurry, I didn't think to be the winner just finished it on time. When the result was announced, I was at second place that I didn't think of achieving it. I went to stage with other champions to recieve the prize. I though that it would be books or other stationery, but when I opened .....ah.... it was a beautiful watch with light blue flower shape and also flower second hand.

I kissed the watch and tried to wear. "Mum... Mum... I have a new wrist watch, Mum!" I yelled on the time arrived at home.

"Wow great, did father buy it?"
"No" my father denied it and smile.
I told the story where the watch came from.

No I'm very careful take care of my wrist watch, I don't want to break it again, and I gave the cracked watch to my brother. Thanks Allah, this is a gift from You.

(SDIT PERSIS 84, Jln. A plain watch only, triple hands, hand wound pocket watch. It is skeletonized so we can see the inner mechanism. I love seeing it ticks, just like contemplating small world of balance. One part resembles human jobs in reality. From hard working full of stress main spring inside the simple barrel until fully ornamented luxurious looking balance wheel, we can see their counterparts in the real world.
Actually it is very primitives without any complication but that's the beauty, the basic idea of time keeping after clepsydra and hourglass (I exclude sundial because of it's almost eternal power source unless when the sun has set). My pocket watch is roughly finished without any decoration even it is not beveled. It is simply working gears set. The ticking sound is very loud you can hear the escapement fork kicking as far as 30cm in normal noise level.
For me it's wonderful, no atomic clock reciever, no solar power, no battery the only power to make it alive is from my own.

Do or not to do

Tonight I watched Butterfly Effect movie for the second times. Which one is better, save someone then see him/her die or do nothing that will also lead to his/her death or sorrow?

Again impressive song

Again a touching song song : from Final Fantasy The Spirit Within

Lara Fabian
Title: The Dream Within

Free the Dream Within
The Stars are Crying
A Tear...A Sigh
Escapes from Heaven
...And Worlds End

Breathe the Dream Within
The Mystifying
- We Tremble and Spin
Suspended Within...

Look Beyond
Where Hearts Can See
Dream In Peace
Trust Love...Believe
- We Tremble and Spin
Suspended Within...

Free the Dream Within
The Voices Calling
A Song...A Prayer
From Deep Inside You
...To Guide You

Be the Dream Within
The Light is Shining
A flame On the Wind
Salvation Begins...

Look Beyond
Where Hearts Can See
Dream In Peace
Trust Love...Believe
-- We Tremble and Spin
Suspended Within...

Free the Dream Within
The Stars are Crying
A Tear...A Sigh
Escapes from Heaven
...And Worlds End

What I like from photography instead of movie cam ?

Spending money equals to twice movie cam for only one DSLR?

While you only have 1/30sec speed each frame in a movie cam, you can get 1/8000sec in a DSLR. What does it mean? It means in one second you can have 1 of 7970 more chance stopping the light. While a movie cam divides 1 second into 30 fractions and picks one of them to be recorded, a DSLR divides 1 second into 8000 fractions and let you pick one of them to be recorded. But as I see there is no same incident happened twice. It always happened one and very bad resulting new victims. What's wrong with us? Are we learning incorrectly or learning something wrong? There should be one thing that we can learn once for all and forever. And I thing this will not be easy as it will need our sensitivity our deep sense of self introspection. Or we should stop learning and enjoy life as it is and prepared to die anytime. Life is a matter of choice, but who choose and what is chosen may develop a very complicated and interesting pattern like 80000 victims died in tsunami disaster.

Some thought about photography

When I was a child (very young arround before 15yo), my mother always told me that when I bring camera I should be recorded in most of the frames. This has been settled in my mind for long time. I don't know exactly what's the reason but perhaps it is as a proof that I've been there and also saving the film that was very expensive to us at that time. In the age of digital technology we don't have to buy film. We can shoot as many as the memory space allows. If it is full we can empty it into computer and instantly enjoy, evaluate the result. Nothing to lose. Something is sparkling inside my mind that I want to show other something that I've seen through camera. It means I don't see only for myself, it seems that I lend my eye to others. Learn not to be selfish in term of our vision. Let see what it will be, now I have my online gallery that it is publicly accessible at brianbio.fotopic.net. I can't upload all of my pictures but I have something to start.

Me and my Nikon D70

Do you believe by learning something we can change ourself into another?
I di believe it. I am inclined to photography since i read a book about it but I was lack of essential element, a camera. In that time I couldn't afford such camera. Mine (actually my family's) was a small free focus automatic film camera in that time. We can do nothing other than composing and searching moment. And the film was expensive, we have to develop and print order to see the result. Did God really here me and give me boon that now I have my own Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera? Alhamdulillahirabbil'alamiin (Thanks to Allah). Illahi anta maksuudi wa ridho kamatlubi (Only You I mean and Your bless I beg). Sometimes I feel ashame that God is so merciful to me. Before this I had my Fuji Finepix S5000 that didn't satisfy me yet (human is a greedy creature). Now I can unleash my fantasy about photography. I hoped at that time my father will buy me one and God seemed hear my pray and my father bought me one. I was very happy, my eyes kept staring at the watch while I was playing with it. The watch was realy cool with black color, when it was attached on the holder (that connected to the band and acted as wristwatch) the shape is square with many sci-fi engraving. It has two buttons, the mode and set buttons. The watch display is a small square that showed only hour and minute, yes it was digital watch. While I was wearing it, felt stylish and modern. To play with it, just detach it from it's holder by pressing buttons on both side. To transform it into robot was also simple, turn the head 180deg facing forward, extend the legs and the arms is free. From the robot's arm could bring out weapons. I never let my watch go far from me, I always wore it until one time. I was playing outside alone while wearing my beloved robotic watch. After I threw a stick quite fast and in sudden, I realized that my watch wasn't on it's holder. I was panic and upset and tried to search everywhere. What come on my mind at time was my father would angry with me. At last I found it lying in sewer nearby my position. It didn't show anything, it was silent. I guessed it may had been secerely shocked and sudmerged. I tried to dry it without success. Silently I put it to my drawer, and never told to my father. That time was my farewell to my beloved robotic watch.

My DW-9300 Tough Solar Raysman Digital Watch G-Shock is the first generation of Tough Solar G-Shock. First time released in March 1998 (according to Casio News release February 9th, 1998) before his brother Gaussman or many says analog Mudman from Master of G lines. Initial price at that time was 28,000yen, and produced 5000units/month.

Design
The watch is realy big with dimension 55.3 x 52.0 x 18.5mm, and weighted 83g you will always remember that you'are wearing watch. It is also very thick that it can not be easily hidden under shirt arm. Covered by single piece of urethane-plastic bezel like Mudman and Gaussman, Raysman is realy protected from shock, mud and dust, this ensure reliability for full heavy duty use in harsh environment. The designer seemed to think of adding small touch of esthetic value by attaching two metal rivets on right and left sides. Raysman general shape is round without any protruding buttons.

Power source
Being tough solar this watch is equiped with solar panel that converts light from any source into electrical power to recharge it's secondary battery. As secondary power source ,ML-2020 is installed. With nominal capacity 45mAh this battery will support the watch for 2 years without any light exposure at full charge.

It's been.....

.........a long time since my last time I touch my Blog. Sometimes I don't know what to write, but if don't let myself to write anything, I will not write. OK I just want to write that today my DW-9300 Raysman G-Shock that I ordered on Saturday is planned to arrive. At the first time when I bought my PRG-70 Protrek Triple Sensor (Barometer-Altimeter, Thermometer and Compass), I thought that it will be enough. This watch has almost everything I need in a wristwatch. But now realize that how greedy human is including me. Now I own two more wristwatches and today there will be new addition. May be now I'm trapped in a consumerized life. I don't know why but may God show me the way.

Me with my new AW-570 analog MUDMAN

Yesterday I got my new watch, it is AW-570 subname MUDMAN analog version.

General technical properties :
- analog hands (hour and minute),
- shock resistant,
- dirt, mud and magnetic resist,
- water 20bar resist,
- stopwatch (1/100second(0'00''00-59'59''99), 1second(1:00'00''-23:39'59''), 24hours, split time),
- multi alarm (3 alarms), time signal,
- full auto calendar,
- 12/24hours time display,
- EL backlight(alarm/time signal/time-linked illumination, afterglow)
- size(H x W x D)/Weight:54.5x54.0x18.3mm/69g

First Impression:
The watch came without box as it is a used item. It has some scratches and chips but the crystal is still perfectly clear. This watch is realy big, it takes all space of my fore wrist. Unlike my digital version of MUDMAN this g-shock design is "normal" rugged. The design is simple, round, without any protruding buttons, they are still have marks on each of them. The crystal is recessed, protected by rubber-urethane bezel and I realized that the surface is spherical. G-SHOCK mark and PROTECTION mark that is extended further provide more protection. This kind of design makes direct hit to the crystal almost impossible if the watch falls on flat surface. With such protection does it mean that the crystal is fragile? Not at all, the crystal is mineral glass that's scratch resistant and it's about 2mm thick unlikely to break easily. The glass is also famous as scratch resistant. The display has 3 dials and 1 square digital display. According to my opinion those dials is not very useful, but they make the appearence interesting. The analog hands have fat shape and look tough, unlike usual analog watch with thin hands for gracefulness. Now the buttons, the bezel is built as single piece including buttons part. This construction seals the button from side so this will keep dirt and mud from easily entering the watch internal. To the watch case the bezel is fastened by four screws that also have function for fastening the strap. It doesn't use normal strap pins.

Shock test to be continued.....

In the middle of sleepiness

I'd like to write review about my one and only G-Shock DW-8400-1 subname MUDMAN :

General technical properties :
- shock resistant,
- dirt and mud resist,
- water 20bar resist,
- stopwatch (1/100second(0'00''00-59'59''99), 1second(1:00'oo''-23:39'59''), 24hours, split time),
- multi alarm, time signal,
- full auto calendar,
- 12/24hours time display,
- EL backlight(alarm/time signal/time-linked illumination, afterglow)
- size(H x W x D)/Weight:54.5x45.5x18.3mm/69g

First impression:
Opening the box I saw that actually this watch is not as big as I expected. The size is almost equal to my PRG-70J. Unlike other rugged type g-shock the design of MUDMAN is "less" rugged. The design is simply clean, with for protruding buttons with marks on each of them. The crystal is recessed, protected by rubber-urethane bezel. G-SHOCK mark and light button that extended further provide more protection. This kind of design makes direct hit to the crystal almost impossible if the watch falls on flat surface. With such protection does it mean that the crystal is fragile? Not at all, the crystal is mineral glass that's scratch resistant and it's about 2mm thick unlikely to break easily. The display has 3 dials, one of them is hexagonal which becomes MUDMAN identity. Hexagonal shape is like head of bolt indicating workmanship that may be this watch is intended for. According to my opinion those dials is not very useful, may be for psychological purpose, for someone to make sure that they are in correct mode, or have stop or started timer or stopwatch. I prefer bigger display with bigger number. Now the buttons, the bezel is built as single piece including buttons part. This construction seals the button from side this will keep dirt and mud from easily entering the watch internal. It is not broken yet, but I think the original one is very precious, so it's better to save it. The original one is heavy duty double pin clasp watchband that I can find nowhere in the internet. The replacement I ordered is nylon velcro magic tape watchband for LUMINOX Navy Seals. It looks like for heavier duty compared to official G-Shock velcro band.

Did I say internet? Yes, I like browsing through internet to find good and cheap goods. It is more energy, time, and price effective than taking stroll from shops to shops to compare price. Might get the lowest price usually 50% than real shop price. But I bet sale shops have better price but you must go to bigger cities or Tokyo. Here in Japan we don't have to own credit card to go on-line transaction, they have cash on delivery system of payment. It means you can pay when your order has arrive in front of your eyes. Here people trust each other. The only thing you must do is reading the e-mail about the delivery and waiting at supposed place at the time told to you, when it arrives pay the amount of price, very nice system.

Now, let's wait for the item to come.
